 
 Special Insured Institutions
Following the licensing of Community banks and Primary Mortgage Institutions by the Central Bank of Nigeria(CBN) and in consonance with Section 5(1) of the NDIC Act Cap N102 Laws of the Federation 2004, the Corporation was empowered to insure the deposit liabilities of licensed banks and other Financial Institutions.Thus the Corporation expanded its activities to include the Financial Institutions.
The surveillance of these institutions (special insured institutions) involves the determination of their condition and performance through On-site and Off-site examinations.The reports generated assist the Corporation in carrying out its reponsibilities to the depositors of the special insured institutions and the financial industry as a whole.
