Fatima Balaraba Ibrahim (Mrs)- Executive Director, Finance & Administration
The Executive Director, Finance & Administration, Mrs Fatima Balaraba Ibrahim attended University of Dakar, Senegal, where she obtained Diploma in French in 1970 before returning home to enrol into Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria where she bagged a BA (Hons) Degree in French in 1973. She proceeded for her Masters Degree in French at Bayero University, Kano which she obtained in 1978.
Mrs. Ibrahim started her working career in 1974 as Education Officer with North Central State Ministry of Education in Kaduna before taking up an appointment in 1976 as a Lecturer at Bayero University, Kano. In 1979, she left for Government College, Kaduna where she took an appointment as a classroom teacher before being promoted as Head of Languages Department and was later appointed as Acting Vice Principal. Mrs. Ibrahim returned to the academic line by joining the services of Usman Danfodio University, Sokoto in 1983 as a Lecturer and Head of French Unit. She took leave of absence in 1984 when she was appointed Commissioner for Health by Sokoto State Government and Chairperson, Project Executive Committee of the World Bank Assisted Health Project.
In 1988, Mrs. Ibrahim returned to her position as a Lecturer at Usman Danfodio University, Sokoto before joining the services of Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC) in March 1989 as a Assistant Director and Acting Secretary to the NDIC Board. She was promoted to Deputy Director in 1990 and transferred to Corporate Development Department. In 1991, Mrs. Ibrahim received another promotion to a Director and moved to Personnel Department before being transferred in 1992 to Administration Department. While in Administration Department, she was posted as Executive Director of African Continental Bank in March 1996 but she was recalled in September, 1996. In March 1999, she was transferred from Administration Department to Corporate Development Department as Director before she was appointed Executive Director (Finance & Administration) by the President & Commander-in-Chief of Nigeria Armed Forces in October, 1999. She was re-appointed in 2005 for another five-year term.
Mrs. Ibrahim was a member of the Nigerian delegation to the United Nations General Assembly in 1987. She also attended several courses, seminars and conferences, including World Bank/Federal Reserve Seminar for Bank Supervisors from Emerging Economics, Washington DC, USA; Banking Supervision Leadership Programme, Toronto, Canada; Breakthrough Programme for Senior Executives, IMD, Lausanne; Pension Fund and Investment Management Course, The Wharton School, Pennsylvania, USA; The Challenge of Leadership, AVIRA, INSEAD, France and High Performance Peoples Skills, London Business School, UK.
